Got @bogart’s book. It’s gorgeous, and settling in its new place of honor.

I have family in Israel that I love. I have had three incredible trips there, including the very last trip my grandmother made. In some ways, there’s no where I want to go more with Elsa and with my parents, who haven’t gone since the early 80s.

I cannot in good conscious spend money in Israel.

I have had complex feelings about Israel nearly all of my life, but the rightward swing of its government and people in the last 10-15 years is not complicated.

Somehow forgot to oil the grates so this should be a fun one. Here’s to hoping for release when cooked.

Resting

Farm season 2021 commenced.

Down the hill, over the river, around the bend, into the forest, up the trail, and to the clearing where a zen garden sits. At the center of a winding path, a bell and a gnome.

When the farm share gives you too many carrots and lots of peppers you make giardiniera, apparently.

When dinner has that perfect crispy skin.

Hot take: this is very bad.

COVID Seder

I cannot tell you how excited I am that Francine has gone from dropping leaves to this.

I’ve decided I like my burgers to be 6oz, with two pickles. Add charred onions, cheese, ketchup, and hoagie spread hot peppers.

I decided it’s summer and rode my bike to the grocery store and made this bounty on the grill.

It’s finally this time of year again.

The last normalish thing I remember doing pre-COVID was going to a Rage Room with Elsa. One year ago, today. Masking was still not a thing, but we heavily used hand sanitizer.
